Updating timelessness

PTCS, a well established lawyer agency with history in Porto, challenged Volta to refresh its brand identity, making it more contemporary. Having the horizontal cut and the dual tone dynamic present in the logo as recognisable parts of the brand, we aimed to create a more modern, clean and structured brand built on top of those two pillars.

The logo’s new typography is timeless and institucional — customised to include the cut that had become trademark of PTCS — in contrast to the new typography family used in the brand system: modern and geometric.

Keeping the deep blue that PTCS was known for, we changed the grey tone to a lighter blue color, creating modern color scheme, without losing the dual tone dynamic. The contrast between the two colors was brought outside of the logo and into the background, emphasising the horizontal cut in the brand, and using the color palette as a tool for structure and hierarchy in the layout. This new system was used to create visual hierarchies that favoured the organisation and interpretation of content throughout the various platforms.

The end result is a timeless brand identity, that transpires precision and organisation, while being open, dynamic and transparent.
